Since December 6, 2001, Joseph Buffey has been behind bars for a horrific crime that, according to his defense counsel, DNA evidence proves he did not commit.  Allan Karlin and Sarah Montoro, of Allan N. Karlin & Associates, are working together with Barry Scheck and Nina Morrison, of The Innocence Project, to serve as counsel for Buffey in his quest for exoneration and, ultimately, his freedom.  Despite the positive identification of the real perpetrator Buffey remains imprisoned

"The Innocence Project is a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted individuals through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.”
